Father John Misty, real name Joshua Tillman, returns with two new tracks from his forthcoming album God’s Favorite Customer.
The tracks and album are coming swiftly after last year’s excellent Pure Comedy and both the songs have a “fuller” sound, more in line with Misty’s first two albums which is surprising given some of the lyrical content of the last album – particularly the track Leaving LA:
“I’m beginning to begin to see the end
Of how it all goes down between me and them
Some 10-verse chorus-less diatribe
Plays as they all jump ship, “I used to like this guy
This new shit really kinda makes me wanna die”
Regardless, both songs are incredibly strong and indicate another winner from Tillman.
